Minor Bantam A Hawks Qualify for OBA Championship!

The Newmarket Hawks Minor Bantam “A” team participated in the YSBA championship tournament this past weekend with 2 out of the 8 teams advancing to the OBA championships on labor day weekend.
Newmarket faced off against Aurora on Friday night winning 11-8. They then beat Innisfil 14-1 on Saturday morning and went into the afternoon game playing the only other undefeated team, Richmond Hill on Saturday afternoon. That game went right to the wire with Richmond Hill driving in the winning hit in the bottom of the last inning with 2 out and the bases loaded to win the game 8-7.
The Hawks advanced to the semi-finals with only 1 loss and secured a spot in the Provincial championships with a 13-8 victory over Vaughan. Both Newmarket and Richmond Hill advanced to the Provincial Championships with Newmarket advancing as the #1 seed out of the York Simcoe Baseball Association.
